Reserve repack interval by country
Will your reserve stay in date until your last jump?
Country of repack, date, trip dates: the tool applies the official French Parachuting Federation list (Technical Directive 50) or the US rules (FAA, USPA) and tells you in seconds how long your reserve stays in date. So you can head off to jump with a clear mind.
The short answer
It depends on the country where the reserve was packed: 12 months in France (Sports Code), 180 days in the USA and Italy, 6 months in the UK and the Netherlands, 270 days in Canada, 120 days in Greece. In France and at FFP-approved drop zones, a foreign repack is valid for the period set by its country (FFP Technical Directive 50).

Coming to jump at PACMA?
The club is FFP-approved and applies FFP rules of practice. At reception, simply have ready: a valid licence and insurance, your logbook, a reserve packed within its interval and an AAD in date. A question? Write to us before you book your flight, we'll be happy to help.
A planning aid. The date your rigger wrote on the data card and the drop zone's decision are what count.

What is the reserve repack interval in each country?
From 120 days to 12 months, depending on the country where the reserve was packed. The French Parachuting Federation publishes the official list in the annex to its Technical Directive 50, updated on 7 March 2025: 39 countries and regions, from Greece (120 days) to Germany (12 months). | Repack validity | Country of repack |
|---|---|
| 120 days | Greece |
| 180 days | Argentina, Italy, United States |
| 6 months | Australia (student and tandem rigs), Belgium (Flanders), Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Ireland, Kenya, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Paraguay, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay |
| 270 days | Canada, Latvia |
| 12 months | Australia (licensed skydivers' rigs, B licence minimum), Austria, Belgium (Wallonia), Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Madagascar, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland |
| 12 months with a 6-month inspection | Portugal, Romania, Sweden |
Is a repack done abroad valid in France?
Yes, if it was done by a person authorised in the country of repack and the rig complies with French regulations. It then lasts for the period set by that country: a reserve packed in the USA is valid for 180 days in France, not 12 months (FFP Technical Directive 50). The owner remains responsible for the rig.
What is the reserve repack rule in the USA?
180 days for a reserve made of synthetic materials, packed by an FAA-certificated rigger (14 CFR 105.43), and 60 days if it contains silk or another natural fibre. A foreign skydiver wearing their own non-TSO rig can keep their country's interval (14 CFR 105.49, USPA).
How do I know my repack will last my whole trip?
Start from the date on your data card, add the interval of the country of repack, then compare it with your last planned jump day, not your arrival. Example: a reserve packed in the Netherlands on 15 October is valid for 6 months, so until 15 April. That's exactly what the tool works out for you, in seconds.
What does PACMA ask of licensed skydivers?
A valid licence and insurance, an up-to-date logbook, a reserve packed within its interval and an AAD in date: nothing more than the FFP rules. The chief instructor may ask you for a check jump. Then it's all about the fun: a jump from 4,000 m costs €27 and the drop zone card €20, from 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Is a UK reserve repack accepted in France?
Yes, for 6 months, the period set for the United Kingdom in the FFP list. After that, have your reserve repacked by an authorised rigger, and you're ready to jump at any FFP-approved drop zone.
What does "12 months with a 6-month inspection" mean?
It's the rule the FFP lists for Portugal, Romania and Sweden: the repack lasts 12 months, with an inspection at 6 months. The tool shows you both dates.
My country isn't on the list: what should I do?
The FFP has no information for countries missing from its list. The validity set by your rigger or by the country of repack applies: enter it in the tool, then confirm it with the drop zone before you travel.
Why count to the last jump day?
So you can make the most of every day of your trip: a reserve that runs out mid-trip grounds you until it's repacked. Check the validity for your last planned jump, not your arrival, and keep a margin in case you feel like extending your stay.
How long does an AAD last?
According to the manufacturers: 12.5 years for a CYPRES, 15.5 years for units made since 2017, and 20 years for a Vigil. Also check the maintenance dates in your rig's logbook.
Can I reuse the table on my website?
Yes, with pleasure: it's published as a CSV under CC BY 4.0, with its sources and the date it was checked. Credit "PACMA" with a link to this page.
