What happens on your first day in Beni Mellal?

Your first day follows five simple steps: welcome and paperwork, a check of your rig or a hired canopy assigned to you, the dropzone briefing, a check jump if the chief instructor asks for one, then manifest. After that, it's all about the fun: lift after lift until 6 pm, facing the Atlas.

  1. 01

    Welcome and paperwork

Show your licence or certificate, insurance, logbook and reserve data card. Our instructors also check your AAD's date.

  2. 02

    Gear check

If you bring your own rig, it's inspected before your first jump. With hired gear, you're assigned a canopy suited to your experience and wing loading.

  3. 03

    DZ briefing

Landing area, landing direction, outs and obstacles around the runway, off-landing procedures: this briefing gives you all the landmarks of a new dropzone.

  4. 04

    Check jump if needed

The chief instructor may ask for one, for example after a long break or if your recent experience is light: ideal for getting back into the swing of it smoothly.

  5. 05

    Manifest and lifts

With a 15 to 20-minute climb and 9 seats per Pilatus, plan your jump groups ahead to fill the aircraft efficiently.

Our instructors' tip

Keep your first jumps of the trip simple: a solo or two-way jump, a high pull, a careful approach. The terrain, the light and the visual landmarks of the Tadla are new to you. From day two, it's time for bigger formations!

A winter DZ where people get together

Every winter, many French skydivers and instructors spend the season in Beni Mellal, notably around the team from Vertical T'Air, the club's partner centre in Arcachon, which provides the aircraft and some of the instructors. A great chance to share the sky with new friends.

  • Clubs from Royan, Le Blanc, Pau and Nîmes have come to jump in Beni Mellal, according to the press.
  • Beni Mellal hosted an international skydiving championship in February 2023, with 35 skydivers.
  • According to the regional tourism council, around 1,000 skydivers came to the region in 2025.

2026-2027 season boogies: the programme will be published on this page as soon as it's confirmed.

Life at the DZ

Morning briefings, lifts all day long, a buffet in the caidal tent by the runway and sunset over the Atlas. Every winter, teams from France and beyond get together in Beni Mellal: the feel of a real club family.

Questions from licensed skydivers

All questions
What licence do I need to jump at PACMA?

A valid skydiving licence or certificate issued by your federation (FFP, USPA, British Skydiving, DFV, etc.), with valid third-party liability insurance and your logbook. PACMA is an FFP-approved club: the chief instructor checks your documents and may ask for a check jump. Then the sky is yours!

How much does a jump from 4,000 m cost in Morocco?

€27 a jump for non-residents, 290 MAD for Morocco residents. With gear hire it's €37; with hire and packing, €42. The dropzone card costs €20, and your tickets stay valid all season.

Do I need specific insurance to jump in Morocco?

You need valid third-party liability insurance that covers skydiving. Before you leave, ask your federation or insurer for a certificate that mentions skydiving abroad, and check your personal accident and repatriation cover: then you can travel with peace of mind.

Is an automatic activation device (AAD) mandatory?

Yes: every parachute boards with an in-date AAD, including yours if you bring your own rig. Check its service date and lifespan before you leave: 12.5 or 15.5 years for a CYPRES depending on its year of manufacture, 20 years for a Vigil.

Is a reserve repack done abroad accepted?

Yes, as long as it's in date: show your reserve data card. The repack cycle depends on the country where it was done, at least once a year in France and every 180 days in the United States. Any doubt? Write to manifest before you leave.

Can I hire gear on site?

Yes: a complete rig (container, main canopy, reserve and AAD) costs €10 per jump, so €37 with the ticket. Book it with manifest before you come; our instructors assign you a canopy suited to your experience and wing loading. Perfect for travelling light!

Is there a packer on site?

Yes. A club packer packs your main canopy between lifts, for €5 per jump, paid at manifest: you keep jumping without the wait. With hire and packing, a jump comes to €42.

Do unused tickets expire?

Tickets bought online are credited to your jumper account and can be used at manifest all season long, until 4 April 2027. Simply plan your jumps within the current season.

Is a check jump mandatory?

Not systematically. Depending on your recent experience, or after a long break, the chief instructor may ask for a check jump before letting you jump independently. Keep your first jumps of the trip simple: the terrain and the Tadla landmarks are new to you.

What happens in bad weather?

The chief instructor schedules lifts according to the weather. On days when we stay on the ground, your tickets stay credited to your jumper account, ready for another day of the season.

My FFP licence expires on 31 December: what do I do for January?

Renew your FFP licence-insurance for the new year before your January jumps: the FFP states that the annual licence expires on 31 December. Show the current year's licence at the welcome desk, with your logbook, and off you go.

How long is the climb, and what altitude do we jump from?

The Pilatus PC-6 Porter climbs to around 4,000 m in 15 to 20 minutes, with 9 skydivers on board. With deployment at about 1,500 m, you enjoy around 50 seconds of freefall, then 5 to 7 minutes under canopy facing the Atlas.

What are the season dates?

The 2026-2027 season runs from 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, and the DZ is open every day from 8:30 am to 6 pm. Every year, the season runs from the first weekend of December to the first weekend of April: the whole winter in the sun.

Can friends and family come to the DZ?

Yes, companions are very welcome! They enjoy the show from the edge of the runway and can share lunch in the caidal tent (70 MAD). Fancy a jump too? A tandem skydive, with no experience needed, costs €250.

How do I get to Beni Mellal?

The DZ is at Beni Mellal Airport, a 2-hour drive from Casablanca (Mohammed V airport) and 2.5 hours from Marrakech. Treat yourself to a proper stay rather than a round trip: hotels and riads in town, about ten minutes from the airfield.
