Tandem skydive: smiling passenger in freefall with arms spread, her instructor right behind her

Can I skydive?

Your green light in one minute, before you book.

Weight, age, health: answer a few questions and find out straight away whether a tandem or an AFF first jump is waiting for you at PACMA, a club approved by the French Parachuting Federation (FFP). Free, no sign-up, instant result.

The short answer

Yes, if you weigh no more than 90 kg fully dressed, you are at least 15 for a tandem (16 for AFF, with parental consent for under-18s) and a doctor sees no medical reason against it. You need no experience and no athlete's fitness: on a tandem, your instructor flies the whole jump while you enjoy it.

What is the weight limit for skydiving?

Up to 90 kg fully dressed for a tandem skydive at PACMA, which is 14 st 2 lb or 198 lb. What counts is your weight on the day, with clothes and shoes on, checked by a quick weigh-in at reception. The limit comes from the certified load of the tandem canopy, the instructor's weight and a smooth, gentle landing.

How old do you have to be to skydive?

15 for a tandem and 16 for AFF at PACMA, with parental consent for under-18s. And there is no upper age limit: as long as your health allows and a doctor signs the medical certificate, freefall is still open to you, at 60 just as at 80.

Do you need a medical certificate to skydive?

Yes, and it's simple. At PACMA, every tandem passenger brings a medical certificate stating there is no contraindication; without one, the club doctor examines you on site, on the day, for 200 MAD. For AFF, you need an examination by an FFP-approved doctor within the last three months. The check above tells you when to see your own doctor first.

  • Tandem: medical certificate of no contraindication, or a check-up on site (200 MAD).
  • AFF first jump and AFF course: FFP-approved medical examination, less than three months old.
  • Under-18s: signed parental consent, as well as the certificate.

Do you need to be fit to do a tandem skydive?

Not at all. On a tandem, your instructor handles the exit, stability, opening and landing. You just need to be able to lift your legs for landing and follow the instructions you learn on the ground. Then it's showtime: a 15 to 20-minute climb in the Pilatus PC-6, about 50 seconds of freefall, then 5 to 7 minutes of canopy flight.

What if I'm scared to jump?

That's exactly who the tandem is for! You don't need any special courage: your instructor, qualified under FFP rules, is harnessed to you, talks you through every step in a relaxed briefing and takes care of everything. Every parachute has an automatic activation device, and the chief instructor makes the weather calls. Your only job: enjoy the view of the Atlas, and leave proud of yourself.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your jump is rescheduled free of charge, to another date in the season or as a credit: you lose nothing. The chief instructor makes the weather calls, for your safety. And you have plenty of choice: the PACMA season runs from 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, every day from 8:30 am to 6 pm, at the foot of the Middle Atlas and in the winter sun.

Frequently asked questions

Ask us a question
Can I skydive if I weigh more than 90 kg?

Tandems at PACMA are open up to 90 kg fully dressed, with no paid band above it. Some centres abroad accept more, sometimes for a surcharge: always check their official rules. Our weight limit guide walks you through all the alternatives.

Can I skydive with glasses?

Yes, no problem at all! Just let us know: we provide over-goggles that fit over your prescription glasses. Soft contact lenses also work very well under freefall goggles.

Can you skydive with asthma or high blood pressure?

Often yes, if it's under control and your doctor agrees: they are the one who signs the medical certificate. Keep your medication with you and tell your instructor. Any doubt? Ask your doctor before you book, and come with total peace of mind.

Can you skydive when pregnant?

No, pregnancy is a contraindication to skydiving, on a tandem as on AFF. The sky will wait for you: after the birth and your doctor's go-ahead, you'll enjoy your jump all the more. A gift voucher can wait until the end of the season.

Does a good result mean I'm cleared to jump?

It's guidance, to help you prepare your jump well. The final decision is made by the instructor and the chief instructor on the day, based on your medical certificate, the weigh-in and the weather.
